Pink Salmon Fishery reopened on the Fraser River

As of Friday, August 31st, anglers may fish for pink, chinook, coho and chum salmon on the Fraser River from the Mission Bridge to the Highway No. 1 Bridge at Hope in British Columbia.

The daily limits are as follows: chinook, 4; pink, 2; chum, 2;and coho, 0.

The department emphasized that the angling community, when fishing for pink salmon, should take all possible measures not to disturb sockeye.

Further measures for the protection of Interior Fraser River Coho will be announced in October, and is expected to include the notice of a recreational retention fishery.

All other species of Pacific salmon (aside from kokanee) are set at a daily limit of four.

All salmon fishing in all BC waters, including the Fraser River must be conducted with barbless hooks.

Voluntary participation in the Salmon Sport Head Recovery program is being encouraged to provide information for stock-assessment. This includes labeling and sumitting heads from adipose fin-clipped chinook and coho species. Contact the Salmon Sport Head Recovery Program at 866-483-9994 for further information.
